Question by ericfromsouthpark: Is sucralose bad for your teeth, and if so why is it in Listerine?
Ok everyone knows sugar is extreamely bad for your teeth, the oral bacteria that break this down into acid tear through enamal like nothing. So why is this stuff in my Listerine mouthrinse? I know it’s a sugar substitute but does it break down in the mouth and harm enamal like sugar?

it is used precisely because it doesn’t break down like glucose. in fact it isn’t used by the body at all, it goes right through you.

Being personal now, I may be the worst person when it comes to brushing my teeth. My teeth are full of lil yellow sweaters! I hate it, I constantly am trying new tooth brushes [buying kiddy ones with action figures and such that distract me] along with any new-latest and great care stuff [mouth wash, etc].

I just still can’t get over the taste of a gross mouth before OR after so it is a battle I fight morning and night. I frankly don’t know what to do anymore, I need braces badly but that involves better starting teeth [and insurance].
I did this just so I can see that no matter how gross, how foamy gag, how upset my stomach gets — I need to brush *my* teeth.

This ramble about teeth care is enforced by FGR and "protecting" my extreme expressions.

Does listerine whitening mouthwash really work?

Question by ColdMilkx3: Does listerine whitening mouthwash really work?
I know this is in the wrong category but w.e Anyways I’ve been using it for a week now and everymorning after I brush my teeth I see a small difference but it’s still a difference, anyways through the day my teeth colour changes back to it’s normal. I want it to stay the same colour that I get in the morning or even whiter. Does listerine really work on your opinion ?

Question by : Why are some dentists against using Listerine mouthwash?
I was told recently by my dentist that I should ever use it and instead switch to scope or crest pro-health. Why? I asked him and never got a satisfactory answer. I hate that crestpro-health, nasty stuff. I’ve used listerine for years and never had trouble from it. So what’s the bad rep lately?

I think, it may because of the high Alcohol content. It dries your mouth out.

Question by Xcaliber: Could rinsing with listerine antibacterial mouthwash too often cause a bonded tooth to wear down?
I had a chipped front tooth so the dentist built it back up and it looks and feels normal now. However, a week ago I got a “wound” in the mouth and was told to rinse with antibacterial listerine after everything I put in my mouth.
Now a week later, I can feel the “cement” or “bonding” on the back of the tooth and i’m afraid the listerine is breaking it down.
Is this plausible? What should I do?

Best answer:

Answer by Dr H
no never heard of it. your bonding is loose but not because of listerine. call your dentist for an evaluation. If you call sooner than later, they’ll most likely replace for free.
